CPP 3: Plants Management Information System

CPP-3 is the Management Information System of third generation expressly designed by Eascon for the Process Industry such as refineries, petrochemical, metallurgical and power generation.
It supplies the plant managers, the site executives as well as the company managers with all the information they need to effectively govern the plants' production and the company business at any time.


Thanks to its new fully WEB-based user interface, CPP-3 shatters the plant walls allowing everyone, wherever he stays, to timely find all the reliable information he needs.

CPP-3 is based on Oracle® relational data base, and takes advantage of the new power features of Oracle 11® Database and Internet Application Server.
Its last version (v.3.5) supports Oracle Database 11g R2 and Oracle Linux 5.5 or 6 operating system

The core of the system is the Plant Data Book, the knowledge base of the plant, where the plant units, the tanks, the equipment design data, the process variables and the analytical samples to be collected, the target yields, qualities and consumptions, the operating conditions and the costs of materials are univocally defined.

 

Many other modules, each one designed for a specific task, gravitate around the Plant Data Book:

 

The Plant Supervisory Module retrieves the plant measurements from the DCS, performs compensation and on-line calculations, stores the measured and calculated data and displays the information on dedicated graphic screen pages. If necessary this module integrates in a native way the most popular real time databases used in the process industry.

 

The Laboratory Analysis Module allows the laboratory analysts to insert the analytical values to be used for flow compensations, product composition calculation and quality certification. In can also be integrated with the most pupulat LIMS used in the process industry.

 

The Tanks & Oil Movement Module allows tank farm operators to define and manage all movements of raw materials and products. All data concerning the products movement are stored and daily reconciled with plant production data.

 

The Plant Performance Monitoring Module identifies the operating conditions of each unit and of its main equipment. The module collects and stores the key process data and the performance data in an homogeneous way, in order to allow process engineers to analyse and compare efficiency and key performance indicators on short and long time basis.

 

The Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance Module detects and stores the normal and abnormal operating conditions of the main equipment of the pant, and records the failures and the maintenance operations performed. The module supplies the on stream time, the maintenance and fault history and the preventive maintenance plan for each relevant equipment of the plant.

 

The Production Management Module calculates on a daily, weekly and monthly basis the material and energy balance, the yields and the utilities consumption of each unit and of the whole complex including plants, tanks, arrivals and shipments. The validated and reconciled data are compared with the targets in order to control every day the plant production and performances.

 

The Supply Chain Management Module arranges and manages all the logistics and the arrival & shipment operations. This module synchronizes the activities of all the company departments involved in the supply chain: from the moment the sales manager closes the order to the moment when the tanker leaves the harbour. This module is able to manage operations by ships, trucks and pipilens and to generate and archive all the relevant documentation for shipment and arrivals.

 

The Cost Evaluation Modules calculates, on a daily basis, the variable plant production costs and the gross operating margins, using the actual feed costs and the variable costs of intermediate products and utilities, evaluated on the basis of the validated and reconciled measurements and of the actual plant operating conditions.

 

The Environment Monitoring Module acquires, validates and integrates the emissions data of the plants, the air quality analyses from the stations located in the surroundings and the environmental data collectd by campaign. The module points out when the pre-alarm and alarm emission limits are exceeded, on the basis of meteorological data and plant operating conditions and generates the official reports and trends for the public authorities .

 

The Production Planning Module allows the plant management to define the optimal production plan in the medium term by means of a rigorous plant simulation which takes into account intermediate product quantities, units efficiency and utilities consumption for given quantities of final products to be produced and of feedstock to be processed.

 

The Production Scheduling Module finds the optimal operating conditions of each unit which satisfy the planned production without violating the plant constraints in terms of feedstock supply, equipment capability, units and tanks capacity.

 

The Short Term Operations Scheduling Module is able to manage a fully detailed scheduling of all the shipping operations, the tanks movements and the plants setups, It monitor the progress of all the operations and simulates the future situation with a time horizon of three days ahead. The consistency of the scheduled operations and of the activities in progress is continuously verified and discrepancies or delays are promptly highlighted to the scheduling department.

 

CPP-3 WEB user interface, based on Oracle Application Server and Java2 Enterprise Edition, is fully WEB compliant. It allows users to access all the production and performance data by means of a standard web browser. The user interface represents these data as synoptics, trends or summary tables in a vectorial format and all the objects shown in a page are dynamic and interactive and can be selected and “drilled” in order to obtain more details.
